DoKC Town Hall: Rook - Helping the Kubernetes Storage Community Thrive

Details

We are the Data on Kubernetes Community (DoKC), where end users go to share best practices for running data workloads on Kubernetes.

We're excited to host our monthly DoKC Town Hall virtual event in September 2023! This is an event to bring the community together to meet each other, share end-user journey stories, DoK-related projects and technologies, and keep you up-to-date on community events and ways to participate. Meetings will be held on the third Thursday of each month at 10am PT.

Rook: Helping the Kubernetes Storage Community Thrive
Presented by Travis Nielsen, Senior Technical Staff Member, IBM

Rook is an open source cloud-native storage operator, providing support for Ceph to natively integrate with Kubernetes. An introduction to Rook will show how Rook configures Ceph to provide stable block, shared file system, and object storage for your production data. Rook recently joined DoK as a community sponsor. Let’s have a discussion about how we can help the K8s storage community thrive. Rook was accepted as a graduated project by the CNCF in October 2020.

Travis is a Senior Technical Staff Member for IBM where he is a maintainer on Rook and member of the ODF and Ceph engineering team. Prior to IBM and Red Hat, Travis worked in storage at Quantum and Symform, a P2P storage startup, and was an engineering lead for the Windows Server group at Microsoft.
