Data Streaming on Kubernetes with Apache Kafka and Strimzi

Speakers:
Jakub Sholz Senior Principal Software Engineer at Red Hat

Description:
Apache Kafka is the leading platform for building real-time data pipelines and event-driven systems. It provides support for high-throughput/low-latency messaging, as well as data ingress, egress, and processing capabilities. But running Apache Kafka on Kubernetes has its challenges. In this talk, we will introduce Strimzi - a CNCF Incubating project that focuses on running Apache Kafka on Kubernetes using the operator pattern. It simplifies the "day 1" and "day 2" operations and lets you run Kafka on Kubernetes in a Kubernetes native way. This includes not only the Kafka brokers, but also the other server components of Apache Kafka such as Kafka Connect, and management of topics, users, or connectors.
