Session: SQL Server Setup Best Practices – Guy Glantser (60 Minutes, Hebrew)
If you install a SQL Server instance by just clicking Next->Next->Next, it will be set up with a default configuration, which is pretty good for many environments. But this doesn’t mean that it is good for your environment. Some of the default configurations in SQL Server are actually not optimal. Some might be optimal for one environment, but not for another. And there are many recommended configurations that aren’t even part of the setup process.
In this session, we will present a recipe for installing SQL Server the right way (not the Next->Next->Next way). This recipe includes many recommendations for better performance, availability, security and manageability. We will explain and demonstrate each recommendation. By the end of the session, you will have a list of recommendations to apply to your existing as well as new SQL Server instances.
