Session: If You Build It, They Will Come – A Day in a Life of a Data Engineer – Matan Yungman (45 Minutes, Hebrew)

A few years ago, Laine Campbell gave a session called "Database Reliability Engineering – Modernizing the DBA Role". The session described the future and predicted that we'll focus on:

• Building infrastructure and tools for developers
• Self-service for scale
• Automation
• Metrics collection & monitoring
• Education
• Disaster recovery
• Dealing with only the hard database problems while giving others the ability and guidance to tackle the simpler ones

6 years later – is the future here?

In this session, we’ll see how the data engineering team at Taboola implements those focus points in real life. We’ll see how the team allows the company to have a fast-changing, multi-platform database environment while keeping the databases reliable, stable, and at peak performance.

We’ll see the tools developed around deploying changes to production, monitoring, alerting, performance visualization, and more.
