Visualizing Climate Data with JavaScript

Details
Mark Phillips, software engineer and data scientist with UNC Asheville's NEMAC (https://nemac.unca.edu) and FernLeaf Interactive (http://fernleafinteractive.com), will speak on several web-based interactive data visualization projects he has done with the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the US Forest Service.
These projects have involved creating tools that allow the user to access many gigabytes of long term climate data, both geographic and time-series in nature, while displaying the data in a visual form that allows the user to engage with it to better understand trends and make informed decisions related to climate-based risks and vulnerabilities.
The talk will include an overview of Multigraph (http://multigraph.org), a JavaScript library for creating highly interactive web-based time-series plots which are re-usable, composable, and compatible across multiple devices.
