This 45-minute session will provide an overview of key developments in Open Research, data governance, and the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), with a focus on their relevance and practical application for data scientists. The presentation will explore how open research principles are transforming access to research data, the importance of responsible data management, and the role of EOSC in enabling cross-disciplinary collaboration and data reuse across Europe.

Topics covered:
• Best practices for accessing and using open research datasets.
• Navigating data governance frameworks, including ethical and legal considerations.
• Tools and platforms available to support data discovery, interoperability, and secure sharing.

The session is designed to be informal and interactive, offering practical tips and real-world examples tailored to the needs of data professionals working in applied and technical domains.

Lindsay Dowling is the Open Research Support Unit Lead at Technological University Dublin, specialising in research data management, governance, and open research infrastructure. She plays a key role in advancing responsible research practices across the institution and contributes to national and European initiatives, including EOSC and CoARA, with a focus on sensitive data handling and FAIR data principles. https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7642-5326
