Time Series - Structural Break Challenge

Details

Time Series Competition / Reading Group this Thursday!

This session we are going to look at the ADIA Lab Structural Break Challenge. This is a machine learning competition where the goal is to detect "structural breaks" in time series data. A structural break is a sudden change in the data, and being able to detect them is important in fields like finance, healthcare and climatology.

Here are some resources to look at before the session:

Please try to read one or more of the links above or preferably, try to enter the competition. These discussions are at their best when most of the people have spent time with the topic beforehand. The goal of the event for us to all be able to meet and learn from each other.
Who is this meeting for?
Anyone who is interested in Data Science and Machine Learning. We aim to have the discussion at an intermediate to advanced level. But we are welcoming to people of all levels
What is the discussion format?
We give everyone a chance to share what they have learned and ask questions about where they got stuck. And for those who did not look at materials beforehand, or would just like to listen, they are welcome to pass their turn.
Meeting Schedule:
6:00 - 6:30 - Arrive / informal chat
6:30 - Introductions
6:35 - Discussion
