We are very excited to announce our 16th Data Science Meetup. On Thursday, 03.06.2021, from 17:30 to 18:30, our colleague Marija Stankova will give an interesting talk about "Machine Learning for Finance using AWS"
Bio:
Marija Stankova is a data scientist at AXA Bank and Insurance in Brussels. She graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies in Skopje, with a degree in Informatics and Computer Engineering. In 2017, she received her PhD degree from the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Antwerp (Belgium), where her work focused on developing machine learning algorithms for network (graph) data and their application in finance. Part of her doctoral work was done at the Center for Data Science and Stern School of Business at New York University (USA). She has extensive experience in using machine learning for the banking and insurance sector, as well as for tax fraud detection with the Belgian Government.
Abstract:
Machine learning and artificial intelligence are transforming the financial industry at a rapid rate. Leading banks and insurance companies use the technology to increase customer satisfaction, tailor financial services, improve risk management, etc. In the first part of this talk we will present the major applications of machine learning in the financial sector and discuss how the use of artificial intelligence is changing the industry and drives innovation. In the second part we will discuss the advantages of using cloud based solutions for machine learning in finance, with a focus on the current market leader - Amazon Web Services (AWS). We will present the core machine learning capabilities of AWS and explain how it can be used to build, train and deploy models at scale. To conclude the talk, we will go over an example from the financial industry and demonstrate the technology in practice.
