Matchmaker, Matchmaker – Tools for entity resolution, classification, and cohort studies
Much of my work as a Scientist turned Analyst turned Data Scientist has anchored in classification and matching algorithms. Use cases span across the business, impacting data engineering, data quality, analytics, sales, marketing and HR. Especially in large datasets or in attempts to combine previously disconnected data sets matching is a challenge. There is significant nuance when it comes to trying to correctly identifying the data points of interest to feed into models and knowing where to have humans in the loop. I will mention the larger toolkit, but spend most of the time demonstrating entity resolution with Splink and the Tuva project for marrying data sources. Other topics discussed as time and interest permit.
Nathan's Bio:
Nathan Brewer, Ph.D. (Physics – Vanderbilt University) is the Manager of Data Science for Premise Health. He completed his post-doc in Nuclear Physics at Oak Ridge Natl. Lab. and the University of Tennessee. He was active at the time of the naming of element 117 (Ts) after Tennessee, authored papers on the synthesis of elements 114 and 118, and measured the equivalent of a banana to lowered the age of the earth by ~250k years. Specializes in modeling, researching novel methods, statistics, experimentation and demonstrating the value of those efforts.
As always free food and drinks. Come at 6PM to socialize and 6:30pm is the presentation.
