Talk 1: Bynder | Alexandre Althoff & Hassan Krayem | How we use AI to search through millions of image files
A story on how Bynder, a Digital Asset Manager (DAM) for file organization, sought to enhance search capabilities amid millions of assets. Clients desired a feature enabling them to find similar images without relying solely on text descriptions and manual sorting. Key challenges included scalability amidst daily uploads, processing existing images, team unfamiliarity with AI/ML and integration with legacy systems. The solution involved utilizing AWS-provided ML models for image vectorization, together with OpenSearch for data storage and retrieval. An event-driven architecture, supported by microservices and Kafka, facilitated scalability and efficiency.

Speaker info: Alexandre Althoff is a senior software engineer at Bynder. Having worked in many industries such as payment-processing, legal-tech and telecommunications, for the last 3 years he has been working with Bynder on the Search domain. He's now leveraging the recent wave of AI solutions to modernize the search experience of the product.
