Data Science Retreat Demo Day #40

Details

Data Science Retreat presents 6 Machine Learning prototypes and projects by Batch 40 participants. Free to Attend! Join us for an engaging evening with fellow data enthusiasts in the city. Explore innovative projects, connect with like-minded professionals, and enjoy networking over pizza and drinks.

Agenda:
17:30 - Drinks and Networking

18:00 - Welcome & Introduction

Followed by Project Presentations

Project Ideas:

1. An experiment in AI with graph neural networks
Project by Raphael Von lottner, Shan Jiang and Johannes Jones

This project implements a 2024 paper introducing innovative methods for visualization and explainability in graph tasks like node classification and link prediction. Performance will be evaluated against baselines on existing and novel datasets, with a focus on explainability in graph tasks.

2. Analyting booking reviews
Project by Alan Tump and Bogdan Pogorelc

The aim of the project is to develop an application that analyses hotel reviews and provides valuable information that allows customers to make more informed decisions based on the past experiences of others.

3. Logical Structure Analysis for Question Generation in TMS Preparation
Project by Joanna Kolny-Olesiak, Neetu Pundir & Nidhi Chawla

This project develops a prototype application for analyzing logical text structures to generate reasoning-based multiple-choice questions for TMS preparation. Using Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), it captures logical connections within text to create questions that enhance logical reasoning skills. The effectiveness of GNN-based generation will be evaluated by comparing transformer models trained on questions with and without GNN analysis.

4. Body Language Annotation
Project by Emmanouil Mavrogeorgis

This project aims to develop a system for video body language annotation in small social contexts. The video could be a part of a podcast, a movie or a conference presentation. Analyzing gestures can provide insights for a large, but subtle part of day-to-day communication.

5. Healthcare AI Companion: A Symptom Checker, Drug Interaction Advisor, and Disease News Finder
Project by Hakan Gürler

This project creates an AI healthcare companion with three key features: a Symptom Checker for disease predictions, a Drug Interaction Advisor for explaining medication risks, and a Disease News Finder for summarizing recent research. Using LLMs, it provides user-friendly insights to improve symptom understanding, medication safety, and disease awareness.

6. Autonomous Security Robot
Project by Zain Elabedeen

The autonomous security robot on 4 wheels is designed to provide security monitoring and threat detection. It can map its environment and move around autonomously, patrol specific areas or objects, detect and respond to threats. The robot monitors its surroundings for potential threats, such as intruders or suspicious items. It can be set up to automatically guard a certain area, protect a person, or watch over an object

20:00 - Open for networking
