AI Analytics: Genius Amplifier or Garbage Accelerator? - Matthew Beauregard

Details
Matthew will share an unvarnished look at what happens when you let hundreds of graduate students use AI for analytics, then evaluate their performance on an actual client scenario. He'll discuss what amplified high-quality analysis and decision making, versus what just accelerated nonsense-production. Discussion may veer into code generation tools, agentic AI, and RAG. He'll use this broad-scale experiment with AI-assisted analytics to cast new light on AI creativity, reasoning, and which analytical skills remain uniquely human.
Matthew is an analytics consultant with 20 years of experience working across banking, telecommunications, and healthcare, while sometimes lecturing in AI and data science at UTS. He founded Mindfit, a health-tech startup using predictive analytics for psychological treatment matching. His cross-disciplinary background in computing science, psychology, and business provides a unique lens for understanding how AI assistance affects analytical thinking and decision quality.
