When To Use Pie Charts?

After a bit too long winter break we are back for some more DataVis greatness!

This time we have Robin Gower, a economist, information analyst, and software developer from Manchester, who will teach us something about the always much discussed use of pie charts:

“Don’t let Excel’s default settings ruin your data analysis! Learn insights from research into visual perception and interpretation. Robin Gower will present some great ideas stolen from the likes of Edward Tufte, Leland Wilkinson, and Stephen Few. You don’t need to be a technical user to enjoy the talk but you should be prepared never to look at a pie chart quite the same way again!”

Robin is a freelance data engineer (http://infonomics.ltd.uk/). He has recently moved to Berlin from the UK where he was a founding member of Open Data Manchester. He loves visualising with ggplot2 (R), d3 (javascript) and marker pens.
