Visualizing the Climate Crisis

Details

This time, we’ll talk about how visualising the climate crisis. We’ll see various approaches from artistic, to scientific and illustrative.

Who?

We’re happy to announce four speaker groups:

Ellery Studio will talk about their “The Infographic Energy Transition Coloring Book” (https://myenergytransition.com/), which won at this year’s Malofeij among other prices.

Myriel Milicevic and Alexandra Martini will present the result of their experimental course “Tipping Points: Visual experiments on disruptive climate system changes due to global warming” (https://vimeo.com/363540500) It shows visualisations of a range of climate tipping elements, staged by design students of FH Potsdam as spatial installations to make the devastating dynamics vivid and sensual.

Matt Beer works at Climate Analytics on the Climate Action Tracker, where he is doing data visualisation and communication.

The team of the Senses project (https://climatescenarios.org/) will present results from their research project about climate change scenarios.

As always, if you have announcements to share, you can also do so at the end of the meetup.

Where?

ZEIT Online! It’s very, very close to the S-Bahn station “Anhalter Bahnhof”. Exit there, then look for a ground-level corner of a building that’s entirely out of glass. You’ll find a glass door to this glass room. That’s where we’ll be.

We’re very much looking forward to seeing you there!
