What we’re about
Data Visualization DC is a non-profit professional group that meets monthly to discuss data visualization, data communication, infographics, exploratory data analysis, charts and graphs, perceptual psychology, and more! Our members are data journalists, data scientists, business intelligence professionals, and others who tell stories and persuade with data. Meeting topics are varied and range from tutorials on basic concepts and their applications, to success stories from local practitioners, to discussions of tools, new technologies, and best practices. All are welcome -- to attend, to meet others, and to present their work!

Fabio is a data visualization designer with the iDeas Lab at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), where he specializes in translating data sets into infographics and visual stories. Before joining CSIS, he worked as a multimedia designer at New America, a think tank, and has always been passionate about the fundamental ways numbers affect public policy, and how public policy, in turn, affect our lives.Abstact: Data visualization is a way to represent numbers. How can we make the most of it? How can we use the data in the most powerful way, i.e. influencing policy making? This conversation will touch on the key principles in performative dataviz-making and how intentional design can help us achieve the most effective configuration for our data.
