Talk: Visualize to Empower: Unleashing Insights through Interactive Data Exploration

Description: Join Rob Moore and Shri Khalpada, co-founders of the quickly growing data visualization publication, PerThirtySix, as they share their ethos on data visualization. They'll demonstrate how interactive visualizations can captivate, delight, and empower audiences. The pair will showcase their process of creating an interactive visualization for the web, from initial conceptualization to a published product. And to keep things light, they'll use data about how Shri's cat, Dorito, spends her time.

Shri Khalpada is a software engineer, data scientist, and creative coder with over 8 years of experience. Having kick-started his career at industry giants like Microsoft and Mastercard, he currently works as the first full-time hire for Cleaning The Glass, an NBA analytics company building tools for both the public and for teams. He wears multiple hats in this role, including data engineer, full-stack developer, and data visualization specialist. Shri is also the co-founder of a data visualization publication called PerThirtySix, and has built other creative coding projects that have collectively attracted over a million visits from around the world. Away from his keyboard, Shri enjoys playing guitar, being mediocre at chess, and spending time outdoors.

Rob Moore is a startup CTO who has built a dynamic career centered around the power of data visualization. He has a degree in machine learning from the University of Oxford and a decade-long track record of crafting compelling visual narratives from raw data. Rob has delivered creative work for a variety of analytics-driven organizations, including a noteworthy collaboration with the NBA. An entrepreneur at heart, Rob successfully bootstrapped his previous company to an impressive $2M in annual revenue before transitioning his focus. His latest venture is Churnkey, a cutting-edge customer analytics product, designed to help businesses unravel the complexities of their customer base. Rob will share insight into simple and effective methods you can use data visualizations to inform, inspire, and delight.
