What we’re about
From infographics to data art, from dashboard to data storytelling. We want to be a place to discuss and learn about all things data visualization, information design, data art, business analytics, and much more.
We want to be a place for everyone interested in data visualization, whether you're a professional, a student, or just curious about the field.
We will host semi-regular events with talks by people from all the different fields of data viz and short hands-on workshops. From design to code we'll address different aspects of data viz in our events. If you've got ideas or would like to give a talk - feel free to get in touch!
We're looking forward to meeting you all!
We kindly ask you to comply with our Code of Conduct online as well as at our events.

Teaching Data Viz
The Information Lab Deutschland, Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße 93, Hamburg, DEIn our 8th DataViz Meetup we will discuss about teaching data viz–a topic that might be perceived as rather dry by your peers. 😉 We will fittingly meet at The Information Lab Hamburg, a BI consulting company that supports organizations along the entire data value chain.
In the first part of the evening, Katharina von Borstel (Strategy Manager & Learning Enthusiast) and Nhung Le (BI Consultant) will give us an insight into their approach to data visualisation training.
They will provide an introduction to their training concepts and will clarify the crucial connection between data and visualization. In the end we will discuss why a learning path does not end with certification and what comes next.
The second part of the event is a Panel Discussion, "Beyond the Bar Chart: Is Data Viz Training relevant Skill, or Just a Nice-to-Have for Better Storytelling?" featuring three special guests: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christoph Kinkeldey, Professor for Media Informatics and Data Visualization at HAW, Florian Ziegler, BI expert at Kühne+Nagel, and Benjamin Schalk, Head of Consultant at The Information Lab.
This will be an interactive exploration connecting effective teaching methods with real-world application in daily business. The guests will discuss with us what truly makes a training successful, share their experiences within their organizations, and open the floor for timely discussions, such as how AI will shape the way we learn. If you are interested in cultural change, upskilling, and data-driven work, or just want to get to know us or learn something about data visualisation training, you are very welcome.
Of course, there will be plenty of time to network and chat with other guests. We’ll have food and drinks to go with the conversation!---
The event is in-person only, in English language and free of charge. The main program will finish around 8 pm, but feel free to stick around and chat. Drinks and snacks will be provided. Please sign up for the event, so we can estimate how many people are joining. We kindly ask you to comply with our Code of Conduct online as well as at our events. If you'd like to present something in the future (tool, project, work in progress) or if you have topic ideas for one of the next meetups feel free to get in touch.
Feel free to bring your colleagues and friends! We look forward to meeting you soon 👋
