# World Bank Data Dive 2025: Jobs & Development
Join The World Bank and Data Community DC for a Developmental Challenges DATA DIVE focused on jobs! As digital and AI technologies reshape global labor markets, we're bringing together data scientists, analysts, and innovators to tackle critical employment challenges in developing countries through the power of data analytics.
Wednesday, December 3rd | 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM | World Bank Preston Auditorium.
In this intensive collaboration, practitioners will analyze the relationship between productivity, employment, and wages in developing countries, with a focus on how digital technology adoption might alter these dynamics. Using comprehensive datasets from the World Bank Enterprise Surveys, Global Labor Database, ILO Employment Statistics, and other sources, teams will transform raw data into actionable insights that could impact development policy.
## Challenge Areas:
Productivity-Wage-Jobs Nexus: Examine how digital technology adoption (AI, automation, digital services) affects the relationship between productivity, employment growth, and wage outcomes in developing-country firms. What policy levers could ensure that digital adoption leads to both higher productivity AND decent job creation?
Structural Transformation: Using firm-, establishment- or labor-force data, identify and visualize how employment is shifting from low-productivity sectors toward higher-productivity sectors in developing countries. Design targeted interventions to accelerate productive employment transitions.
Cross-Country Labor Market Analysis: Analyze decades of data from Brazil, Mexico, and India to understand how different cohorts enter and traverse labor markets. Examine regional and sectoral patterns, including gender dynamics and their evolution over time.
Minimum Wage Policy Impact: Using microdata from labor force surveys, analyze how the proportion of workers impacted by minimum wage policies has evolved in low and middle-income countries, and examine enforcement patterns across different labor market characteristics.
Additional Jobs Challenge: [Additional challenge details to be confirmed]
This is your opportunity to harness cutting-edge analytics to identify patterns, uncover hidden opportunities, and forge data-driven strategies for inclusive employment growth. Together, we'll work with real World Bank data to develop insights that could reshape approaches to jobs and development.
