Details

Dear all,
First of all, we wish you a very happy 2024!
We are very happy to kick off the Newyear by inviting you to a meetup on January 18th! This time around we are welcome at Tilaa, an ambitous cloudhosting company in ‘s Hertogenbosch.
We have two great talks lined up for you.

  • Ellert van Koperen - DB architect and Perfomance tuner- will start the program with a talk about his journey with migrating big databases within the dynamic environment of VandeBron Energie.
  • The second talk is by Marc Linster – Chief Customer officer of EDB, who will share with us his vision on the future of PostgreSQL in a demanding and rapidly changing world of digital transformation, analytics and AI.

As usual we have reserved some time in the program for anyone who wants to do a lightning talk. Please contact us through a personal message on meetup.com
We are very grateful to Tilaa for hosting the Meetup. Registration through Meetup.com is required.
We look forward to a great evening and see you in Den Bosch!

The goldilocks-zone: between guessing and a full benchmark
By Ellert van Koperen - DB architect and Perfomance tuner
When migrating an existing system in general and a database in particular it often can be quite a challenge to get a decent picture in advance of the needed capacity (CPU, RAM, IOps, storage).
Running a POC with a realistic scenario can help with this, but comes with its own challenges. In this short talk I will show how I did it for the customer Vandebron and what turned out to be the goldilocks-zone in the decision making process.
Very short Break

The new frontiers for Postgres
By Marc Linster – Chief Customer Officer
Postgres has established itself as a core capability of today’s digital transformation. This talk will explore the role Postgres plays in the IT stack, and what drove that phenomenal success. It will also look at the key requirements of new applications, as they pertain to Postgres. The talk ends with a discussion of the next frontiers for data driven applications: accelerated transformation, distributed systems, analytics, and AI.
