How does an AI assistant know what your organisation means by revenue, customer or product performance? How can it use that context to deliver more accurate results? And what happens when AI moves beyond answering questions to writing code, building pipelines and solving real engineering problems?

At our next Data & Spritz meetup, we're bringing together Databricks, Datapao and the London data community to explore two important developments in the Databricks Genie family: Genie Ontology and Genie Code.

We'll look at how these capabilities work, see practical demonstrations and discuss where they can make a real difference.

## What we'll explore

Genie Ontology: Giving AI the business context it needs
An AI assistant might understand your data structure, but does it understand your business?
We'll explore how Genie Ontology provides a shared context layer that helps Genie interpret business concepts and relationships. We'll look at how features such as domains, pages and governed business definitions can make data easier for AI to understand and work with.
Ella Davies from Databricks will walk us through the concepts and demonstrate how this works in practice, using a pharmaceutical industry example.

Genie Code: AI that helps you get data work done
Genie isn't just about asking questions in natural language.
Genie Code brings AI-assisted development into Databricks, helping data teams write and run code, develop pipelines, build dashboards and troubleshoot issues.
We'll explore what Genie Code can do today, with a practical demonstration from the Datapao team, and discuss where it can genuinely save time for engineers and analysts.

From capabilities to practical adoption
What does it take to put these tools to work in an organisation?
We'll discuss the importance of business context, governance, reliability and the challenges teams face when moving from experimentation to real use.

There will also be time for audience questions, technical conversations and sharing experiences with other Genie users.

This edition is organised in collaboration with the Databricks Genie Community, connecting local practitioners with the wider community of Genie users and experts.
