Leeds Databricks Meet Up
Details
Welcome to the Leeds Databricks Meet-up, 10th June 2026
Join us for an evening of Databricks insights, three expert-led sessions and plenty of networking, with complimentary drinks and nibbles throughout.
This month's line-up runs as a single thread. As AI agents make building faster and cheaper than ever, what separates the agents that thrive from the ones that don't... and how do you prove it? Three speakers from Databricks and Transatlantix take you from building, to surviving, to measuring what works.
Agenda
18:00 - 18:20 | Arrival & Networking Kick off the evening connecting with fellow data professionals, tech enthusiasts and industry leaders over drinks and light bites.
18:20 - 18:30 | Opening Remarks & Introductions Welcome from the organisers and a brief overview of the evening's sessions.
18:30 - 19:00 | Mastering the Data Engineering Agent for Enterprise ETL with Genie Code Ash Sultan (Snr. Specialist Architect - Databricks) & Marius Panga (Snr. Solutions Architect - Databricks) Join us for an in-depth session on Genie Code, Databricks' autonomous AI partner designed to dramatically boost productivity for data practitioners. Whether you're a business user answering questions with data or a technical user building complex pipelines, Genie brings powerful new AI capabilities directly to your workflows.
19:00 - 19:30 | Agentic Darwinism Luke Thorp (Solutions Architect - Databricks) As AI agents make building software almost free, the hard problem stops being whether you can build something and becomes which agents actually survive contact with production. Through an evolutionary lens, Luke explores why, when creation is cheap, fitness is everything: reliability, cost, governance and measurable value. He looks at what it takes to design agentic systems that adapt and endure rather than getting selected out.
19:30 - 19:40 | Short Break
19:40 - 20:10 | Agent Ops as a Data Product: How Agent Bricks and Lakebase Turn Agent Operations into Enterprise Intelligence Philip Mifsud (Solutions Architect - Transatlantix) AI agents keep getting smarter while most organisations get no better at understanding them. Every interaction throws off valuable operational signals (retrieval scores, routing decisions, evaluation outcomes) that usually get discarded or locked in siloed systems. Memory gets the attention; observability is the bigger unsolved problem. Philip shows how Databricks Agent Bricks emits these signals by default and Lakebase captures them as instantly queryable lakehouse data with zero ETL, turning raw agent telemetry into a governed observability data product. The result: clear answers on what each agent costs, where it's failing and why, plus whether it's compliant. All of it a SQL query away rather than a month-long reporting exercise.
20:10 - 20:30 | Networking & Close Continue the conversation over food and drinks.
