We'll open at 18:15 to allow people to join. The talk will commence at 18:30 sharp and will likely to last 45-60 minutes. The meeting will be left open for a more informal chat afterwards if anyone wishes to do so!

About the talk
Life Hacks: dbatools edition by Jess Pomfret

dbatools is an open source PowerShell module with over 500 commands to assist you with managing your SQL Server estate. This session will walk through several life hacks that you can take back to work and quickly implement to make your life easier and impress your friends.

This session’s life hacks will include, among others:

  • How to answer your boss’ question quickly
  • Is my database in full recovery model?
  • When was my last backup?
  • Testing your environment for best practices
  • Is max memory set appropriately?
  • Is TempDb configured optimally?
  • Exporting/backing up server configurations
  • Do you have everything you need if your server dies?

About the speaker
SQL Server DBA, from the South of England

Jess Pomfret is a SQL Server Database Engineer and a Microsoft MVP. She started working with SQL Server in 2011, and enjoys the problem-solving aspects of performance tuning and automating processes with PowerShell.

She also enjoys contributing to dbatools and dbachecks, two open source PowerShell modules that aid DBAs with automating the management of SQL Server instances. She has also contributed to the SqlServerDsc module, adding several new resources to use when configuring your SQL Servers.

She grew up in the South West of England and outside of her DBA life enjoys Crossfit, cycling and watching proper football.
