Data for better cycling on the streets of Berlin

We are looking for interesting data driven approaches to improve cycling in Berlin. We will present some results of ongoing projects that try to collect and/or combine traffic data in ways that show especially dangerous places for cyclists or allow for new solututions to the current Berlin road drama.

Program:

1. The Project FixMyBerlin wants to enhance communication between planners and citizens by building a platforms that allows the evaluation of cycle lanes in Berlin. The project about itself:
   FixMyBerlin möchte die Kommunikation zwischen Verwaltung und Bürger verbessern. Dafür wird eine Plattform entwickelt, die Daten des Radverkehrs zusammenführt, Planungen der Verwaltung klar kommuniziert und Eingaben von Bürgern für die Stadtplanung nutzbar macht. Ziel ist es die Akzeptanz für Planungsprojekte, sowie Qualität und Geschwindigkeit ihrer Umsetzung zu verbessern. Die Verwaltungen werden in der Kommunikation unterstützt und von überzähligen Beschwerden und Anfragen entlastet. Für dieses Ziel wird eine kartenbasierte Online-Plattform zur Kommunikation des geplanten Berliner Mobilitätsgesetzes entwickelt.

2. A data journalism team of Der Tagesspiegel will present its project "Radmesser". It has developped a sensor, which measures the distance between cars and bicycles in the moment when the car overtakes the cyclist. The results will be visualised in new formats of whcih the first one has just been launched: https://interaktiv.tagesspiegel.de/radmesser/

3. There is still an additional slot for an innovative datadriven project on cycling to be presented. Send us a message in case you want to present.

4. Other projects will have the chance to each present for five minutes after the main presentations. Presentations can be held in German or ENglish
