Come join us as we explore the depth and breadth of census data available at Statistics Canada. The purpose is to enhance participants’ ability to use the 2016 Census resources effectively and will gear the presentation towards using data to aid non-profits.

Speakers Bios:
Paul Laffin is a Consulting-Analyst with the Statistical Information Service, Central Region at Statistics Canada. His experience includes responding to requests from both the public and private sectors and providing data users with information relevant to their specific needs. In addition to this role, he has given presentations about Statistics Canada’s data and information to various external audiences.
Amanda Colina has 10 years’ experience with the Statistical Information Service, Central Region, Statistics Canada. Her experience includes responding to requests from both the public and private sectors and providing data users with information relevant to their specific needs. She has given customized presentations about Statistics Canada’s data and information in both English and French to diverse audiences in the province of Ontario. Currently she helps coordinate the Workshop and Outreach Programs in Central Region. In addition to this role, she presents the workshop Turning Statistics into Stories to Canadians across Central Region.
Amanda has a Master’s Degree in Adult Education and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto. She is a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.
Trained as a geographer and urban planner, Heath Priston works for the City of Toronto in its Social Policy, Analysis and Research section. Here, Heath supports social policy and community development efforts with access, understanding, and application of socio-demographic data to their work. Part of Heath's responsibilities involve serving as the staff lead for the Toronto Consortium of the Community Data Program, a cross-Canada initiative that supports inexpensive access and use of data for local governments and community non-profit organizations.

Entrance is off King Street West, and has a short flight of stairs with railings on each side. Doors are not motorized/automatic.
The building has an elevator with a 34-inch wide doorway. The doorways to each floor are 35 inches wide.
Washrooms are available on each floor, with the facilities on the 3rd floor being gender-neutral. There are two narrow stalls in the leftmost washroom, and one stall and urinal in the one on the right.
Our classroom tables on the third floor are readily moveable, whereas the table arrangement on the second floor is more fixed.
