Description
Calling on all socially conscious data scientists, analysts, statisticians, coders, hackers, designers, and eager-to-learn data-enthusiasts in the DC area!

We're thrilled to be hosting another DataDive -- a weekend-long hackathon to get hands-on with mission-driven organizations' data to carve out some insights and build new possibilities for action.

Collaborate and engage with fellow data do-gooders as you work in teams to analyze, visualize, and mashup fascinating data sets to create real world change.

Agenda
Saturday 4/27
10am - 7 pm: learn about the projects, choose a team and get to work! Doors open at 10:00am and project introductions start at 10:15am.

Sunday 4/28 10am - 1pm: final presentations and networking. Doors open at 10am and final presentations start at 11am.

For WiFi:

Note: You can attend one or both days.

On Saturday, we’ll gather to learn about the projects and then we'll dive into the data! DataDivers will choose which projects they'd like to work on and form teams around their individual questions. Each team will have one or more Data Ambassador assigned to them who will help advise on and manage the projects throughout the day.

Sunday morning, we’ll put together final presentations to show the world what you have done with data!

Projects
OpenAQ
This project will use OpenAQ air quality measurements to create tools for visualization and / or visualizations to support the OpenAQ community in understanding the data and its long-term trends.

Chesapeake Monitoring Cooperative
This project will perform exploratory data analysis of the data collected by the Chesapeake Monitoring Cooperative so that they can identify impactful patterns in the data which would encourage more scientists and states to use the data and understand the gaps in their data collection so they can continue to build this useful open data resource for future scientific efforts.

Audubon Society
We will be assisting the Audubon Society to build off of existing coastal erosion work to solutionize their research on habitat destruction in preparation for the coming hurricane season

We will also help the Audubon Society visualize and predict attendance at their annual Christmas Bird Counts.

Earth Challenge 2020
This project will first determine how difficult it is to harmonize existing data sets, and determine the quality of the data. This data will be used to inform the development of an apps that citizen scientists around the world will use on Earth Day (and beyond) to collect information.
