Since 2021, Power BI Premium has closed the gap in terms of tabular model capabilities that were previously exclusive to Azure Analysis Services: read/write XMLA endpoint, support of large models, backup and restore… While Azure Analysis Services is no longer evolving, Power BI Premium continues to receive new features and updates, with Microsoft branding it as a superset of Azure Analysis Services.

In this session, we will share our learnings on migrating 200+ Azure AS models to Power BI Premium capacities with the pitfalls to avoid, the tools and accelerators to use and the strategies to streamline the migration process.
