DataPhilly March 2014 - Interactive Data Visualizations

Details
Greetings Dataist!
For our March meetup, Mike Stubna will guide us through his talk "Interactive Data Visualizations: Examples and Creating Your Own". Mike has given a few lightning talks in the past and we are excited for him to get a feature presentation.
After Mike's talk, we will leave room for some volunteers to give lightning talks. This is a great way to share something you've been working on.
Agenda:
6:00 - 6:30: Networking, food
6:30 - 7:30: Interactive Data Visualizations: Examples and Creating Your Own
7:30 - 8:00: Lightning Talks
8:00 - Bar?
Abstract: Interactive Data Visualizations: Examples and Creating Your Own
An effective data visualization creates a narrative that enables viewers to engage with and make sense of a data set that might otherwise be inscrutable. The web provides a platform for making data visualizations much richer through the use of animations and user interactivity. In this talk I'll present some examples of interactive data visualizations and provide an introduction of how to start making your own using tools such as D3.js.
