The Smartline Project ( https://www.smartline.org.uk ) brings together researchers, organisations, and businesses to understand the different challenges people face linked to health and wellbeing, and people’s aspirations for using technology to help overcome them.
One element of the project's work included a wide-ranging survey of residents, covering themes as rich as physical and mental health, education, community links, smoking and ventilation habits
One application of this kind of method is to allow businesses or policy makers to identify representative and meaningful personas - derived from the data - around which to develop further research and policy.
The data challenge is to develop a process, very likely a clustering process, to extract these personas. The real challenge is to be able to explain and defend the quality of the clustering so that policy makers can have confidence in the personas.
After this session you can work in a group, or individually, and present your findings at a follow up event.
