Deep Learning - Understanding the Revolution

Details

Deep neural networks are changing the world and it’s happening now! Just literally ask Google or press autopilot on a Tesla. Come join us on January 19th and see how you can take part in this revolution.

Machine learning and AI has had its ups and downs the past 60 years. However, this time we’re seeing a revolution. So what changed? Data has become more prolific, for sure, but there has also been incremental additions to neural network algorithms, leading to big gains. In conjunction with additional compute power, deep neural networks have become the sweetheart algorithm of AI.

Agenda:
In this Meetup we will focus on 2 things:

• General Understanding
• Practical Implementation

We’ll start by defining neural networks, understanding its history, and current economic impact. From there, we’ll take a look under the hood at what’s going on from an algorithmic perspective, then introduce TensorFlow.

DON’T WORRY! YOU WILL NOT NEED TO HAVE ANY PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN MACHINE LEARNING OR ADVANCED MATH.

Food:
• Munchies and Free Beer (Other drinks will be provided too.)

Location and Parking:

• Union Hall, basically the hub for Cincinnati startups.
• There's convent parking across the street in the Mercer Garage. (https://goo.gl/maps/gdeCdPjwEsp)

Jonathan Pickard’s Deep Learning Bio:
With 12 years experience building analytical infrastructures, this past year Jonathan began his neural network journey with initial disappointed. Online courses and associated examples were too limited to help him with real world applications. But through trial and error, he was able to understand neural networks both mathematically and practically, enough to utilize two versions of deep neural networks. One, a convolutional neural network for image analysis, now is part of an ensemble model. And another, a deep neural network implementation to analyze traditional business data within a data warehouse.
