Details
Abstract:
"Lineage 3.0: Using D3.js to chart 250 years of family history" is a deep dive into the art and science of building network graphs with D3.js.
From mapping genealogical data spanning centuries to visualizing customer relationships and charting complex TV show character connections, this talk showcases the versatility of force-directed graphs. We'll explore the challenges and best practices of working with D3.js, highlighting coding styles, the balance of configuration vs. convention, and lessons learned from over a decade of side projects.
Along the way, you'll gain insights into open-source development, navigating software licenses, and the creative freedom that comes from transforming your passion into practical, shareable tools. Whether you're a data visualization enthusiast, a history buff, or a side project veteran, this talk will inspire you to bring your own networks to life.
