Data Driven Rating of Football Players (College, Pro, Fantasy)
In August, ESPN introduced a new way to rate college football players via a rating system they call the PlayStation Player Impact Rating. Last season, we developed a rating system for college football players that proves to perform as well as the NFL experts in identifying NFL talent. Our system, DraftGeM, uses a combination of analytics and visualizations to enable comparative analysis of college football players (peer and historic comparisons).
This year we extended our rating system to NFL players. This provides the same type of rating for free agent moves, trades, or contract negotiation decisions. The underlying methodology has proven to perform well at predicting fantasy points for various fantasy scoring systems.
