# Dating with Dogs Participant Waiver & Liability Disclaimer

By RSVPing to or attending any Dating with Dogs event in Washington, DC, Maryland, or Virginia, you agree to the following. Please read carefully. This waiver affects your legal rights.

1. Voluntary participation. I attend voluntarily. This is a casual social meetup, not a matchmaking or dating service. Organizers do not screen, vet, background-check, or endorse any attendee.

2. Assumption of risk. I understand that gatherings with people and dogs carry risks, including dog bites, scratches, falls, allergies, illness, injury, alcohol-related incidents, and loss of or damage to property, whether caused by me, other attendees, dogs, or the venue. I knowingly and voluntarily accept these risks. I am responsible for my own safety, health, and belongings.

3. RELEASE OF CLAIMS. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, I RELEASE AND AGREE TO HOLD HARMLESS DATING WITH DOGS, ITS ORGANIZERS, HOSTS, VOLUNTEERS, AND VENUE PROVIDERS, AND MEETUP AND ITS AFFILIATES, FROM ANY CLAIMS, LOSSES, OR DAMAGES ARISING FROM MY PARTICIPATION, INCLUDING CLAIMS ARISING FROM THEIR ORDINARY NEGLIGENCE. This release does not apply to gross negligence, willful misconduct, or any claim that cannot lawfully be released.

4. Other attendees. I am solely responsible for my interactions with other attendees, including any contact or meetups before, during, or after an event. Organizers are not responsible for any attendee’s conduct. I will report harassment, unwanted behavior, or safety concerns to an organizer. Organizers may act on reports but cannot guarantee any outcome.

5. My dog. If I bring a dog, I confirm that it:

   • is vaccinated (including rabies) and licensed or registered as required by the law of the jurisdiction where the event is held,
   • is healthy and has no known history of aggression or biting, or I have disclosed that history to an organizer in advance,
   • will stay leashed and under my control at all times, in compliance with local leash laws, and
   • will never be left unattended.

   I will clean up after my dog. I am fully responsible for any injury or damage my dog causes, and I will not bring a dog that shows aggression or illness.

6. Rules and removal. I will follow the group’s code of conduct, venue rules, and organizer instructions. Organizers may remove any person or dog from an event at any time.

7. Photos. Organizers may take photos or video at events and may share them publicly (for example, on Meetup or social media). If you do not want to be photographed or shared, tell the organizer at the event and we will honor your request going forward.

8. Eligibility. I am at least 21 years old. I have read and understood this waiver, and I understand that I am giving up certain legal rights.

9. General. If any part of this waiver is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. This waiver is governed by the law of the jurisdiction (Washington, DC, Maryland, or Virginia) where the event takes place, to the extent permitted by law.
