🐾 Welcome to Dating with Dogs #1! 🐾
1. Oak Hill Cemetery (3001 R St NW)\ "#FallDogDay2026" We’ll start off at the Oak Hill Cemetery grounds at 10:00am in Georgetown (Washington, DC) where our dogs can roam, sniff, run and play on the cemetery grounds before we head out for our hike. This off-leash event is offered freely twice a year (Spring and Fall). 2. Walk west on R St to Lovers Lane: Just a few short blocks to the Dumbarton Oaks Park entrance (downhill path).
3. Dumbarton Oaks Park: We’ll follow the trails downhill along the stream, past the stone bridge, toward Rock Creek park trails.
4. Rock Creek Park trails
Most of the trails are paved, shaded by trees, and shared with cyclists, runners, and other dogs.
Total hike (approximately): 3-4 miles. Depending on our speed and pace, we will turn back towards the starting point (Oak Hill Cemetery) so that we can get back to our cars before the 2 hour parking limit expires. This is an out-and-back hike.
FREE Parking (2-Hour Limit for Non-DC Residents) or Metered Parking Spots: Off-street parking and unpermitted visitors are generally allowed to park for FREE up to 2 hours (maximum) in designated RPP (Residential Parking Permit - Zone 2) spaces. Look for these Green and White Zone 2 Signs in the residential streets near Oak Hill Cemetery. https://www.parkdc.com/documents/731f181e9a2744d39360f5c456483f54/about. Parking is strictly enforced in most areas, but please read all signs carefully to avoid getting a parking ticket.
