My Go-To One-Light Studio Setups

Simplify your lighting approach with "Back to Basics: My Go-To One-Light Studio Setups for Models," a workshop designed to help you master impactful portraits with minimal equipment.
This session focuses on three classic one-light setups:

• Look 1: Overhead Lighting – Create dramatic shadows and highlights with a single light placed above the subject.
• Look 2: Side Lighting – Enhance texture and depth using a single light at a 90-degree angle to the subject.
• Look 3: Indirect Lighting (Two Flats) – Bounce light off large reflectors for soft, diffused illumination that flatters any subject.

Each look begins with a 20-minute demo led by David Arnold, where you’ll learn both the technical setup and artistic application of the lighting technique. Following the demo, participants will have hands-on time to practice with a professional model, who will change looks after each setup.
