Canterbury is famous as a religious centre and the heart of the Anglican Church but religion and spirituality are not the same. Religion can be regarded as an organised form of spirituality with doctrine, scriptures and a church structure. Spirituality on the other hand emphasises a direct personal experience of the divine or an ultimate reality. This walk will take us to the places in the city which celebrate the more spiritual aspects of human experience. Find out about Gnostics, Freemasonry, Alchemists, the Kabbala, Predestination, Depravity and Redemption. Learn about the growth of Eastern religion, New Age philosophy and Spiritual Healing.
The walk is 1.5 miles long and is free of charge. All welcome to join me for coffee, tea or hot chocolate afterwards.
