About us
I changed the name of the group from Davis Activity Partners to Davis Day Hikers since all we do is day hikes these days. I do mostly eight to fifteen mile day hikes, leaning more towards the shorter hikes as I get older. This group is for active hikers who like to keep moving, stopping periodically for the slower hikers to regroup. We usually have a lunch break at a scenic spot somewhere along the way.

Please change your RSVP to "not going" if you change your mind about coming.
We are a faster moving group than most and often spread out during the hike, so I prefer smaller groups so that I can keep track of how many are behind me. I will stop periodically to regroup if I haven't seen the people behind me for a while, especially at intersections and any place people might get lost. People who get ahead of me should do the same.
Go here for the Ten Essentials. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten_Essentials) Not everyone brings all ten for every hike, but everyone should at least bring extra water, extra food, extra clothing, and a head lamp or flashlight on every hike.
Facilities on the hike: water fountains and toilets at the trailhead and Pantoll Ranger Station.
We will hike from Stinson Beach uphill on the Steep Ravine Trail to Pantoll Ranger Station where we will stop for lunch. Then we will hike back downhill to Stinson Beach via the Matt Davis Trail. This GPS track for the hike shows that it's over seven miles round trip and over 1500 feet elevation gain: Steep Ravine and Matt Davis Hike
Here are Google Maps directions to the Stinson Beach Parking Lot.
Take 80 to 37 (580 also works, but requires a toll) to 101 South. As you drive into the parking lot past the booth with the flagpole, you will see a sign that tells you to turn left to the Central Lot or turn right to the North Lot. I prefer to park at the Central Lot, but wherever you want to park, we will meet in the grassy area with picnic tables between the two lots.4 attendees
