The Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival is one of the nation’s oldest, largest and most prestigious juried outdoor art festivals, consistently rated among the top shows by Sunshine Artist and American Style magazines. This year about 1,200 artists from around the world applied for entry and an independent panel of judges selected 225 national and international artists to attend the show. The first festival was held on Park Avenue in March 1960. Over the next decade, the festival grew to over 600 artists and was spread out over Park Avenue from Fairbanks Avenue to Canton Avenue and on all cross streets. For the past 30 years or so, the festival has been contained solely in the park area and currently features 225 artists. ART CATEGORIES-There is a wide variety of outstanding artwork. Categories include: Clay, Digital Art, Drawing and Graphics, Fiber, Glass, Jewelry, Leather, Metal, Mixed Media, Painting, Photography, Sculpture, Watercolor and Wood. We offer a choice to allow guests to stay the entire time at the Festival or take a two-hour morning sightseeing tour. The Morse Gallery museum which boasts housing the World’s largest collection of Tiffany glass is our drop-off and pick-up point avoiding the parking problems when self-driving. The tour of Rollins College includes a look at the Knowles Memorial Chapel and the Cornell art center. We also have a picture stop with a realistic bronze statue of Ben Franklin and the recently added one of Fred Rogers. The beautiful Azalea Park is located next to the area that the Rowing team uses for practice on Lake Maitland. There are many lovely homes on this waterway including one owned by the author of “With God as my copilot” and another by the famous Mr. Rogers of the acclaimed children’s show, Mr. Rogers neighborhood. One of the homes was about to be destroyed when a preservation group formed and moved the house known as Casa Feliz (Happy House) to another area near the public golf course and is now used for special events and fundraisers.
