In our modern knowledge economy with massive amounts of information constantly bombarding us, we have to quickly make sense of it all. We have to have the metacognitive skills to filter everything to know what to let into our psyche and what must be kept out.

Being able to identify logical fallacies is a very prudent and pragmatic way to know the difference between sense and nonsense.
