"Serious Games" are gaining a lot of interest in many areas of education and business. Serious Games are games designed with an additional "serious" agenda but designed to be fun and engaging.

In this meetup, Andy Hoang, Learning Technologist at the CIPD, will take us through a new Serious Game he's been working on for the last 4 months, sharing the lessons he's learnt along the way.

Built entirely out of Lego, the People Management game was developed to introduce people to the profession of HR. Players play the role of the HR team and are tasked with building up a business given limited resources. During the course of the game, they are brought face to face with the consequences of their decisions.

The first 90 minutes will be spent playing the game. Andy will then walk us through the key elements of creating and facilitating a game of this kind.

Where: The Yellow Room at Remark (18 Leather Lane EC1N 2SU)

Places: Strictly limited to 15.

Cost: There's a small charge of £10 to cover the room hire and any leftover cash will buy us a beer/wine/fizzy water at the end of the session.

What's happening? Fun-packed agenda below:
6:00pm - Arrive for a quick mix & mingle
6:10pm - Serious Game with Andy Hoang
7:40pm - Design lessons learned - Q&A with Andy
8:00pm - Session close and head home (or over the road to continue the conversation)

Note: Jam sessions are highly participative so be prepared to bring ideas, problems, solutions and a healthy sense of curiosity.

Looking forward to meeting up with you all again soon!
