Artsiom Miklushou from Evolution will share his experience in successfully running Event Sourced systems in production for 5 years. We will discuss what Event Sourcing is, approaches in implementation, issues with it, mistakes we made and what is its future

Topic: A different kind of magic

“We've all faced the challenge with "change" in life. As Software Developers, in our professional careers, we will experience changing jobs and, with it, we’ll find completely different types of business applications, different programming languages, frameworks, and paradigms.

Lately, I and my teammates have been facing the challenge of a shift of focus in our usage for Scala, from the Self-hosted or Orchestrated Microservices Web-development scope to the fully Distributed and Cloud executed Data ETL scope. A different kind of magic, for sure.

Another challenge we’ve been facing has been the adoption of newer technologies with underdeveloped integration stacks where not always the “someone has done that before” applies. As expected, in a situation like this, we’ve had to create foundational work in the form of a strong set of shared libraries to allow our company to scale and to open-source them with the community.”
