Thames Valley Artificial Intelligence meetup 3

Details

Our third Thames Valley AI meetup, 1800 - 2030, at a larger town centre Venue. Our thanks to Austin Fraser providing a venue and sponsoring this meetup at Thames Tower, Station Road, Reading RG1 1LX. Put the date in your diary. Beer and Pizza + networking at the start. A corporate, an SME, and an academic/researcher will share their experience and learnings from deploying/using AI. Then more networking to finish.

A tip from a member - Hills Meadow Car Park just across the river is free after 6pm, and not too far. So should be time to get to us before presentations kick off at 1830.

I am happy to confirm that we have four speakers;

James Cruickshank from IBM will be delivering -

What will Sherlock do now? - intro video - http://bit.ly/2lP0nlA
Join us as we search for Professor Moriarty across Europe using the latest AI vision-based technology.

Alexis Smith the CEO of IMGeospatial - A dyslexic dropouts practical steps for working with bias in AI datasets - Alexis intro video - http://bit.ly/2lQVybm

Dr Varun Ojha, Lecturer in Computer Science - Human Perception of the Urban Environment - Data Science Approach - intro video - http://bit.ly/2kIaYi3

As a part of my research with a team at the ETH Zurich, we investigated a detailed answer to the question "Do the dynamics of the city environment influence us and how"? We adopted Machine Learning and Data Mining approaches for investigating such relationship between the dynamics of the city environment and the human perception. A complex and messy dataset was analyzed and resolved for this purpose. The machine learning analysis and its results will focus on answering the following questions: (i) What are the factors that need to be accounted for from the city environment? (ii) How can we collect and process messy and complex datasets? (ii) Can we predict the citizen's perception based on a particular environmental condition? (iv) Are we able to infer a detailed relationship between a citizen's perception and the city environment? (v) What are the significant factors that influence a citizen's perception? (vi) Does the citizen exhibit positive or negative emotion towards a certain environment?

Keshav Sankla, Solutions4Health - Utilising AI to achieve health outcomes at scale. Intro video - http://bit.ly/2mdBnEN

Kesh will be talking about the process, experience, and key challenges that are relevant for an SME when trying to apply artificial intelligence in healthcare. The focus will be on how applied AI can generate solutions that address challenges in access, quality, and cost; with the strategic, technical, organisational, and financial challenges being explored.
