(Online) SIGGRAPH Asia and Upcoming Presentations – Washington DC ACM SIGGRAPH

The Washington DC Chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH invites you to join us for our first meeting of 2024. We have invited special guests to talk about their experience at the recent SIGGRAPH Asia conference as well as discuss their backgrounds and portfolios. We will also be discussing upcoming presentations as well a announcing the first chapter challenge for the new year.

The meeting will be hosted on the Zoom platform. A link to the meeting will be provided 5 minutes prior to the presentation to all those who have responded to the announcement on our MeetUp. The link will also be visible to those who RSVP. Those who do not RSVP to the MeetUp announcement will not receive the link to the meeting.

Biography - Alex Burke:
I grew up in Baltimore, Maryland in the US. I studied art, illustration, and core academics at CCBC Essex and Dundalk campuses and earned my associate's degree in Fine Arts. I then spent a few semesters at the University of Baltimore, taking history, anthropology, and business courses. Then I transferred to the Maryland Institute College of Art where I studied animation and acquired my Bachelors in Animation.

I am an independent Animator, Illustrator, Writer, Director, Storyboard Artist, and Voice Actor. Currently, I work full-time at IKEA's Online Support Center as a Media Production Lead and Director for their upcoming YouTube channel. I also work do independent work as well.

In my professional career, I have notably done animation and educational work for NASA, illustration and logo design at Johns Hopkins for their NICU Volunteer Hugger Department, animation and compositing for Mike Row's independent animated series"Paying it Forward," and Illustration work for IKEA US.

I have been with the SIGGRAPH SV Program since Anaheim 2016 in SIGGRAPH North America. And have also Volunteered at SIGGRAPH ASIA starting at Bangkok, Thailand in 2017. I have been a Student Volunteer Team Leader 3 times, starting first in 2020 with their first Virtual event.
