Docker: What, Why & How?
Docker was one of last year’s most talked about open source projects - but what is it? And what does it mean for deploying applications?
This talk will start with a brief overview of Docker basics and then transition into more advanced topics.
Among other things, we will discuss:
• A full end-to-end deployment workflow using Docker
• New Docker tools currently in development that make it easy to run a Docker cluster
• Some emerging best practices for working with Docker
• A changing cloud computing industry and how Docker can help you make the most of it
• Things to consider when bringing Docker to your organization
Speaker Bio:
Andrew Baker
Andrew T. Baker is a software developer based in Washington, DC and the instructor for O'Reilly's "Introduction to Docker" video tutorial released in late 2014. He is also the author of spin-docker, a lightweight open-source Platform-as-a-Service powered by Docker and Flask.
Previously, Andrew was the Python lead at a software consultancy in DC. Last fall, he took time off to pursue his technical interests and work on side projects.
