Rock of Bral (Spelljammer) campaign

This will be the kickoff night for a Spelljammer campaign. If you aren't familiar with it, Spelljammer an alternate set of D&D 5e rules that let you adventure in space. In this session, we'll talk about how the campaign will work, introduce the DMs, and talk about what you'll need in terms of software (e.g., Discord, Roll20, D&D Beyond, Forge, etc).
The main goal for this campaign is to bring back episodic sessions that let people come and as time permits them to play. So unlike a typical campaign with a long, closed-world story line that relies upon everyone showing up every week to propel the story, each session in this campaign will find your character beginning and ending on the asteroid city of Bral. From there, you board your ship, journey to a nearby planet or moon, battle space pirates, get lost in a nebula full of beholders, etc. Then you wind up back at the bar on Bral--hopefully. You might find yourself each week with a somewhat different group.
Another goal of the campaign is to enable people who are new the meetup group and/or new to D&D to get in on a game. I've been running this meetup for about three years now and am frequently asked "how to I find a group to join." The problem with campaigns that are based upon long-running stories is that it can be difficult to find a seat at the table if you're new. I want the Rock of Bral campaign to change that. I really want to encourage people who haven't played or are new to the game to join us.
There will be multiple DM's and characters can come and go between them. Your characters will be tracked in the D&D Beyond campaign "Rock of Bral". You can have multiple characters in the campaign but only one in a given session. Each session/adventure will have experience points awarded. The Discord channel and the D&D Beyond campaign will be published privately.
I'm setting the attendees to 20 for this introductory session just to keep things manageable. If we need more introductory sessions, we can do more for people who end up on the waitlist.
