Securing Microservices with JWTs and Java

Summary: In this presentation, Micah Silverman will take you on a token based journey. The talk covers what tokens are, looking at cryptographically signed tokens - JWTs (JSON Web Token), using the JJWT library to create JWTs, mitigating CSRF (Cross Site Request Forgery) attacks using JWTs and establishing trust between microservices using JWTs. There are some slides and lots of code.


Micah Silverman is Stormpath's Java Developer Evangelist. With 21 years Java experience (yup, that's from the beginning), authoring numerous articles, co-authoring a JavaEE book, and speaking at many conferences, he brings his love of all things Java to a meetup near you.

The Courthouse Station stop is within walking distance of the office. Exit towards Courthouse Plaza and follow signs to Strayer University/Clarendon Blvd (on your left). Once at ground level proceed to the right, walk past Cosi until you reach Summers on the corner. Cross over the road and our office building will be on the right (1515 North Courthouse Road).


The parking garage located at 1515 North Courthouse Road is on the 15th Street side of the building. There is a second entrance located on Clarendon Boulevard. The Garage hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 6:00AM to 11:00PM.
