Book club: Best Writing on Mathematics 2011

I can now make the book-club date official; we have a reservation for
the third floor of Science Club. The book we'll be reading is:

Foreward by Freeman Dyson.

It may be too ambitious to have all ~400 pages read by late January;
maybe half the book is a more reasonable goal. I'll post a message two
weeks before the meeting to ask how everyone is doing with the book and then
we can decide; maybe we'll only discuss the first N essays.

The book is $12.03 on Amazon at the moment; abebooks.com has a few
used or remaindered copies for slightly less. Caution: one of the
Amazon reviews for the Kindle edition claims that the equations are
mangled and difficult to read, so you may want to go for the printed edition
instead of an e-book.
