Martha Johnson is leadership speaker and writer who draws on the lessons learned as an executive from a 35-year career in public and private organizations.

She was nominated by President Obama and confirmed unanimously by the US Senate to be the Administrator of the General Services Administration, a position she held from 2010-2012. She also served eight years with the Clinton Administration and was appointed to two commissions with the British Government. Her private sector career has spanned the information technology, architecture, strategic consulting, and automotive industries including Cummins Engine Company, Computer Sciences Corporation, Ellenzweig and Moore, Architects, and SRA International.

Johnson has delivered over 50 public speeches on various topics including leadership, organizational transformation, sustainability, and government innovation. She has been featured repeatedly in the press and has testified multiple times before the US Congress.

Her writing credits include On My Watch: Leadership, Innovation, and Personal Resilience, a best selling book on Amazon published in October 2013. She has also authored a novel, In Our Midst, which placed as a quarterfinalist in the 2013 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award competition.

Johnson was graduated with a BA from Oberlin College and an MBA from the Yale University School of Management.

Johnson was born in New Haven, Connecticut, raised in California and North Dakota. She is married, has two adult children and an elderly father, and resides in Annapolis, Maryland.
