What we’re about
Vision: To create a thriving professional community for Washington D.C. area paraprofessionals, teachers, and administrators on Meetup.com. This group will serve as a hub for professional development, collaborative problem-solving, and relationship-building, directly addressing the need for role clarity, positive partnerships, and professional growth in our schools.
"Defining Our Dance": A workshop for teacher/para teams to co-create a "collaboration agreement" outlining communication plans, roles, and how to handle disagreements.
"Tools of the Trade": Training sessions on topics like de-escalation techniques, using assistive technology, or implementing specific academic interventions.
"Success & Sticking Points": A monthly roundtable where members share one recent success and one challenge they're facing, followed by group brainstorming.
Role-Playing Scenarios: Practice navigating common difficult conversations in a supportive environment (e.g., clarifying a direction, disagreeing respectfully).
Para Spotlight": Start each meeting by highlighting a paraprofessional's outstanding contribution.
Resource Exchange: Create a shared digital folder or physical binder with helpful resources, templates, and articles.
