Getting here

Audax Health is located in the Georgetown waterfront building:

3000 K St. NW, Sixth Floor
Washington, DC 20007

Metro - We are about a 15 minute walk from the Foggy Bottom metro stop on the Blue and Orange line

Parking - Our building has a parking garage ( The entrance is on the river side of K street (under Whitehurst Freeway), between Thomas Jefferson St. and 30th St. It's a flat $10 after 4PM.

Once you've parked or have arrived at the Washington Harbor complex, our building is the one on the left if you are looking towards the river. The entrance is at street level, to the left of the smaller fountain (if you see Tony & Joes or Sequoia, go up the stairs away from the river and turn right). The doors are locked but we will have someone at the front desk from 6:30 until 8, so just knock.

Here is a link to a map with the parking garage entrance and our building entrance marked:,-77.057446&spn=0.00253,0.004726

Please RSVP if you plan on attending. Thanks!

Thanks everyone for attending! Just a reminder, we've got another meetup coming August 21 and we're looking for another presentation. If you've got something that you'd like to give a 15-30 minute talk on related to Scala somehow, please post a comment here and in the meetup link for August 21 ( with what you want to talk about. If you see someone post one that you are interested in hearing, reply to let everyone know that it sounds good!

Very good introduction for people that have not used Akka in production. Wish we had more time to go a little more in depth.

That was a good presentation - though wished there was more time to get further in-depth; I had previously read the blog article so I knew roughly what to expect. Josh's answers to the questions posed were great, definitely made coming out to the meetup worthwhile. If there is ever an Akka in Depth book Josh is the guy who should write it!

It sounds like an interesting talk.

FWIW, I'd also be interested to hear how to approach testing actor-based code.
