Functional Programming Principles in Scala (7 part series)

Details
Coursera.org is offering a course entitled "Functional Programming Principles in Scala" (https://www.coursera.org/course/progfun) where Martin Odersky will serve as the instructor. The class will consist of lecture videos, which are between 6 and 15 minutes in length. These contain integrated quiz questions per video. There will also be standalone homeworks that are not part of video lectures, and a final exam.
The course is broken into seven weeks with updates every Tuesday. We'll hold meetups the following Thursday where we'll project the course videos and run through the integrated quizes together.
While it is not strictly necessary, I encourage anyone interested in attending to register for the course personally. Apparently Martin will sign your completion certificate as part of the package if you do so.
Seven weeks of consecutive meetups should serve as a nice motivator for those (like me) who are interested in completing the course but might otherwise not make the time.
We're requiring a $3 commitment to RSVP mainly to discourage no-shows but we'll also use those funds to upgrade our pizza from the usual Papa John's to Il Canale (http://www.ilcanale.com/) instead.
